This section is assigned for explaining licensing
procedures and required documents according to
prevailing rules in the country or to local orders
of the Government of Sharjah. It will facilitate
procedures for investors and introduce the departments
that they have to deal with to practice economic
or professional activities which differ in terms
of legal requirements. There are two legal frameworks
for investment as we mentioned in the third section
f this guide in detail. In this section, we will
show the most important points relevant to this
issue:
Licensing Procedures in Accordance with
Prevailing Laws:
First: Licensing Procedures in Sharjah Government’s
Local Orders
In accordance with these orders, the
investor is given a license for an establishment
that is owned by a non-UAE national, with a local
service agent to practice trade and professional
activities, or is given a professional license
through a professional company
The
departments whose approvals are required
for the licensing process are the following:
Department
of Economic Development to get preliminary
approval from the licensing committee
Department
of Economic Development to obtain the trade
name
The
Licensing Application Form should be accompanied
by the following:
Photocopy
of valid passport and civil registration
of UAE nationals
An attested no objection letter from the
sponsor for license applicants, with a photocopy
of the applicant’s passport (non-AGCC nationals)
A no objection letter
attested by the court in the case of no guardian.
It should be attested by the Department of
Economic Development or from the Sharjah Chamber
of Commerce and Industry (or a no objection
letter from the guardian for businesswomen
to practice trade activities) and a permission
attested by the court for individuals under

In case of activities
that require prior approvals from other agencies,
photocopies should be presented (like Interior
Ministry, Ministry of Health, Ministry of
Information and Culture etc...)
In case of company branches
or the entry of a company as a partner in
a new license, the following documents should
be presented:
A
copy of founding contract, duly attested
Attested decision by the mother company
Letter from the
mother company appointing a manager
in charge of completing the license
procedures
The budget of the
previous two years
Department of Economic Development for technical
evaluation procedures – the following documents
are needed:
Rent contract
Preliminary approval
Ownership document
Plot map
Location drawing
Trade name document photocopy
Department
of Economic Development for completing rent
contract attestation procedures the following
documents are needed:
The contract
Photocopy of the trade name document
Stamp of the Sharjah Electricity
and Water Department
The endorsed technical
evaluation
Department
of Economic Development for approving the advertising
board: a form should be filled and the following
should be presented: Photocopy of the rent contract
and the design
Attestation of the contract legally (in the case
of limited liability companies or joint company,
attested by the notary public at the Sharjah Court,
and in the case of service agents, papers are
attested at the Legal Affairs Division at the
Department of Economic Development in Sharjah)
Providing all previous documents to specify license
fees as well as those for commercial registration
in the case of industrial and trade licenses
Previous documents should be presented to the
Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to apply
for membership, after obtaining a photocopy of
the license from the Department of Economic Development
