Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) has been accustomed to pursuing and developing policies that motivate private sector activities for the development and achievement of excellence in the fields related to its work. This is in concordance with its belief in the critical importance of private sector activities in developing the local economy and pushing the wheel of the economy towards international competitiveness. In the shadow of increased economical competition within the framework of an international economy of close convergence and changeability, and in order to complete the efforts of boosting the development and excellence the year of 2001 witnessed the start of new project aiming at supporting the efforts of establishing the principles and concepts of quality, and establishing a methodological system that guarantees continuous improvement and development. This project is none but the launching of the Sharjah Economic Excellence Award which came as a logical development to preceding projects. In pursuit of continuous improvement, the year of 2003 witnessed the innovation of a new model for Sharjah Economical Excellence. This model is based on values and summarizes international experiences in the field of TQM. The aim of the award is to help the economical establishments to work for continuous improvement, raise their ability for competition, and achieve the conditions of permanent quality through following guidelines and standards enabling them to test the effectiveness of their systems. This is in addition to having many privileges offered by the award. Accordingly, we are offering the invitation to all economical establishments in all economical sectors in Sharjah to participate in the award and join the procession of those longing for excellence. Taking the Sharjah Award of Excellence as a guide for applying the concepts and practices of excellence will achieves for Sharjah and its economical sectors development, prosperity, and leadership that strengthen the pursuit of excellence.
