SCCI organized an extensive business session with a number of officials and an Armenian commercial delegation led by Robert Harutyunyan, General Director of the Armenian Development Agency, who was on a visit to UAE for the sake of promoting investing opportunities in Armenia. The visit also aimed at identifying opportunities for economic cooperation between both parties. The delegation was comprised of chairmen of a number of companies and firms representing different economic sectors.

At the beginning of the session attended by Mohamed Gomaa al Mashrakh, Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Department, and a number of representatives of the private sector in Sharjah and businessmen in the Armenian delegation, HE Hussain Mohamed Al Mahmoudi, SCCI Director General, welcomed all guests. He further pointed to the efforts that could be exerted on both sides for the sake of promoting economic relations, and to raise them to a level that meets the demands of the private sector in both Sharjah and Armenia. Al Mahmoudi reiterated that SCCI is quite willing to cooperate with the Armenians for the provision of all services and facilities that would lead to building fruitful commercial relations.

Robert Harutyunyan, General Director of the Armenian Development Agency, praised the developments in UAE, pointing that the visit of the Armenian Delegation comes within the tour carried out in GCC countries, and emerges from a will to develop economic relations with countries in the region and for the sake of holding meetings with UAE businessmen in order to know the available aspects of cooperation and the investment opportunities.

At the end of the session, both sides stressed the importance of enhancing common efforts so as to increase the size of commercial exchange between Sharjah and Armenia. This shall be achieved through the increase of investments and the establishment of projects to make use of the opportunities available in Armenia especially in the field of tourism, urban development, agricultural industries and infrastructure. The Armenian delegation carried out an introductory tour in the Permanent Exhibition of Local Commodities in the SCCI headquarters during which they were introduced to examples of the local industries in Sharjah. They further praised the level of industry in Sharjah.
